A robot is a machine that imitates the actions and sometimes appearance
of an intelligent creature, usually a human. This machine is able
to perceive the surrounding environment, i.e. getting and interpreting
information from its surroundings and is able to physically interact
with the environment, i.e. do something physical such as move
or manipulate objects, based on environmental information.
"How to Build a Real Robot" is a course organized by IEEE Robotics
and Automation Society - Egypt Chapter and given for free to the
all interested students from different departments. The objective
of this course is to teach students how to build a real robot
that can achieve intelligent connection between perception and
action. To do so, this robot must be able to perceive the environment
and acts accordingly. Without assuming any prior knowledge of
robotics, the course provides an introduction to the key issues
involved in the development of real robots such as locomotion
systems, sensing the world, microcontrollers, etc.
